
Particles and sheet metallic panels rained down from a Con Edison facility rooftop Saturday afternoon amid excessive winds within the present Arctic chill gripping town, FDNY mentioned.
First responders rushed to the scene the place particles fell from the construction round 3:50 p.m. close to twelfth Ave. and W. 58th St. in Hell’s Kitchen.
The NYPD shut down the road for round an hour as Con Edison and metropolis Division of Buildings officers assessed the incident.
The positioning is house to Con Edison’s landmarked 59th St. Steam Station, which supplies steam for warm water, warmth and cooling to greater than 1,500 Manhattan buildings.
Nobody was injured within the incident.
The FDNY believed the fallen particles was attributable to excessive winds as temperatures within the Large Apple dove near zero levels with winds of 20 mph to 25 mph, with gusts as much as 50 mph on Saturday.
