The official jersey number to be worn by Raheem Sterling at Arsenal has been revealed in the latest update from the Emirate stadium.
Following a last-minute move to Arsenal in the summer 2024 transfer window, Raheem Sterling who was unavailable for his first game for the Gunners has been handed a unique jersey number at the club.
The 29-year-old English winger, who completed a loan move on transfer deadline day after being sidelined by his former club, Chelsea will wear the number 30 jersey for Arsenal.
Sterling’s transfer from west to north London was finalized in the early hours of Saturday, August 31, 2024, as Arsenal’s pursuit of the forward came down to the last moments of the window. This move reunites Sterling with Mikel Arteta, with whom he previously worked during their time at Manchester City.
The number 30 jersey number was recently vacated by goalkeeper Matt Turner, and Sterling joins a list of former holders including Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Ryo Miyaichi, and Yossi Benayoun.
Other available numbers for Sterling included the 10, 14, 21 shirts, left vacant by Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah, and Fabio Vieira after their recent moves. The No. 31 shirt, which Sterling wore during his time at Liverpool, was also available.
Although fans haven’t yet seen Sterling play for Arsenal, who last played in a 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion before the international break, supporters can now look forward to seeing him in the number 30 shirt. The England international is eager to get back on the field soon and contribute to Arsenal’s pursuit of a trophy this season.
