It’s been a rough beginning for Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts against the Saints.
He was responsible for two early miscues, ending a pair of promising Philadelphia drives.
On a third-and-9 from New Orleans’ 11-yard line, Hurts threw an interception in the end zone to safety Tyrann Mathieu.
During the Eagles’ following possession, Hurts fumbled on a second-and-10 from the Saints 40-yard line, and linebacker Willie Gay pounced on the loose ball, ending a 10-play, 36-yard drive that took 6:33 off the clock.
Hurts entered Week 3 with three interceptions and two fumbles, and his ugly start against New Orleans continued his unimpressive 2024 season.
Hurts’ performance is even more problematic considering the Eagles defense held up its end of the bargain by limiting the explosive Saints offense to three points through its first four offensive possessions.
Without Hurts’ errors, the Eagles could have a comfortable lead on the road. Instead, they must try to win in spite of their quarterback’s mistakes.
