A landlord rep on town’s Lease Pointers Board resigned simply hours earlier than the group is scheduled to vote on a lease freeze. 

Christina Smyth, the board’s sole landlord consultant, despatched out a scathing letter of resignation to the group Thursday morning, claiming it had “stopped being a fact-finding physique”, The New York Day by day Information first reported.

“This rebuilt board was required to ship a lease freeze. The whole lot since has been theater,” she wrote.

Smyth, an actual property legal professional and legislation agency proprietor, slammed Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s hand-picked board — of which he appointed six of the 9 members — for turning a blind eye to rising constructing and insurance coverage prices for landlords.

“I requested why the information displaying rising prices and falling internet earnings was not mirrored within the board’s route to its members. These questions went unanswered,” she stated.
