Emtee Opens Up About Frustrations With Empire Record Label. In a candid post shared on social media, South African rapper Emtee has expressed his deep frustration with his current label, Empire, marking nearly a year of what he describes as neglect and disappointment.
Emtee, who has been signed to the label for approximately 356 days, stated, “I can’t remember one thing that has been done for me by them.”
The artist revealed that he has had to independently organize his own shows, facing challenges and setbacks along the way, including theft and disrespect from those who doubt his career. “People steal from me so they laugh and say ‘he lost it all’ — nah b***, you stole from me,” he said, highlighting the struggles he has faced.
Reflecting on the past year, Emtee recalled a significant moment just before he met the CEO of Empire, noting that the anticipation surrounding his upcoming album has become a heavy burden. “My supporters, family, friends, and colleagues have been asking me about this album. This has to be the worst moment in my life. I can’t post anything without being asked by millions of supporters about the album,” he lamented.
Emtee contrasted his experience with Empire to his previous label, Ambitiouz Entertainment, admitting, “Ambitiouz was hell, but they didn’t keep me waiting for a whole year to even give a fuck about me.”
Emtee’s post reflects the struggles many artists face in the industry, particularly concerning label support and the expectations of their fan base.
