Barcelona forward Raphinha has joined Cristiano Ronaldo and 2 other top players as the only ones to hold this record in the Champions League.
Raphinha has joined Cristiano Ronaldo, Roy Makaay and Sergio Aguero in an elite Champions League goalscoring record after netting a hat-trick for Barcelona against Bayern.
The Brazilian has been in top form in recent times and he needed just 60 seconds to put the first goal at the back of the net, he scored his second goal in the final minute of the first half, before he earned himself the match ball shortly before the hour mark by scoring a stunning goal.
Argentine frontman Aguero bagged a hat-trick for Manchester City versus Bayern in November 2014, while Dutch forward Roy Makaay, who spent four years at the Allianz Arena between 2003 and 2007, was the first to claim a match ball against the Bundesliga heavyweights when turning out for Deportivo La Coruna in September 2002.
Playing for Real Madrid, Ronaldo bagged his hat-trick against the Bundesliga giants during the second leg of the UEFA Champions League 2016-17 quarter-finals. Ronaldo scored his first goal in the 76th minute to tie the game 3-3 (on aggregate) at the Santiago Bernabeu after 90 minutes.
Ex-Leeds star Raphinha is now filling the position as captain for Barcelona, after seeing Marc-Andre ter Stegen suffer a serious knee injury and some other key Barcelona players get injured too, and is looking to lead by example. He certainly proved he can lead the team in the Bayern match, who briefly restored parity early on when star striker Harry Kane hit the net.
