Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman deservedly was named Most Valuable Player after Los Angeles won the World Series over the New York Yankees, 4-1, on Wednesday.
As important as Freeman was to the series win, he wasn’t the Los Angeles player with the most valuable name.
Dodgers catcher Will Smith kept a wild World Series trend intact by making the 2024 Fall Classic the fifth consecutive where a Will Smith has won the championship.
Smith previously won the 2020 World Series with the Dodgers, while relief pitcher Will Smith won the World Series in 2021 (Braves), 2022 (Astros) and 2023 (Rangers).
