Manchester United’s defender, Lisandro Martinez has withdrawn from the Argentine national team ahead of the final international break window of the year.
Top Argentine journalist, Gastòn Edul confirmed the news on his official X account on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. According to him, Lisandro Martinez suffered an injury while he was on duty with Manchester United.
This is a big blow to Argentina as he will be missed in the games against Paraguay on Thursday, November 14, 2024. Days later, on Tuesday, November 19, they will host Peru at La Bombonera.
Martínez’s absence adds to that of Germán Pezzella, who has missed the last three matches with River Plate due to discomfort in his right calf, and Nicolás González, who continues his recovery from a right rectus femoris injury that kept him out of matches against Venezuela and Bolivia. González will remain in Italy to undergo rehabilitation.
Manchester United’s club staff will assess him upon his return to Carrington, where he will then meet new head coach Ruben Amorim for the first time. It remains to be seen if the defender will be available for the Portuguese first game in charge against newly promoted side, Ipswich Town on November 24, 2024.
