Another snow-producing system will move into the Northeast overnight and into Christmas Eve, possibly creating slick travel conditions on Tuesday morning. Winter Weather Advisories were posted for portions of New Jersey.

The latest system comes after several inches of snow fell over the weekend across parts of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, causing slippery travel during what was thought to be one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
According to the National Weather Service, New York City has a 40% chance of snow showers after 4 a.m. Tuesday.
“Snow showers swing through tonight which may lead to a slick commute tomorrow morning so be on the lookout,” FOX 5 NY’s Mike Woods said in a post on X, formally Twitter.

Residents in upstate New York will wake up Christmas Eve morning to a fresh snowfall or light snow still falling.
“By tomorrow morning, right around daybreak, some showers come through,” Woods said. “Snow, maybe mixing with a little bit of rain make a quick little blast-by for a couple of hours.”
Uncertainty remains regarding how far south the snow will reach, but it’s possible that New York City will pick up some light snowfall.
“If we get an inch, that’s actually somewhat significant,” Woods said.
The snow will quickly taper off on Christmas Eve, so anyone traveling during the second half of the day shouldn’t encounter many issues on the roads.
When is winter break?
Winter recess for New York City Public School students begins Monday, Dec. 23 and lasts through Wednesday, Jan. 1.
