NEW YORK – Friendliness varies across the country, so does New York stand out as the friendliest state?
According to a study by World Population Review, tourists have ranked New York the least friendly state out of all 50 states.
New Jersey didn’t do much better either by coming in 46th place.

World Population Review said tourists ranked Minnesota as the friendliest state in 2024.
According to World Population Review, the term “Minnesota nice” lives up to its name.

How was the country’s friendliest state found?
Big picture view:
World Population Review looked at two categories of data to determine what the friendliest state was for 2024.
One of the categories was based on personal experience. World Population had Big 7 Travel ask 2.5 million of their social media followers to vote on which states are the friendliest.
