Rail service in and out of New York’s Penn Station was delayed up to an hour ahead of the evening commute after am Amtrak train had a derailment while leaving the busy transit hub, according to officials. Amtrak said in a statement that a set of wheels on a train derailed while leaving the Manhattan station around 2 p.m. Wednesday. A Long Island man has been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison for striking and killing a diner patron while under the influence of alcohol as he tried to drive off with his soup takeout, the district attorney announced.
