The New York Mets completing a three-game home sweep of the Washington Nationals ensured that the Amazins would enter Thursday’s series opener against the first-place Philadelphia Phillies (91-61) two games ahead of the rival Atlanta Braves in the battle for the National League’s final wild-card playoff spot.
Following an impressive 10-0 victory over the Nationals on Wednesday evening, outfielder Brandon Nimmo seemed to call Mets fans out for some lackluster attendance numbers throughout the Washington series.
“We’re ready to go,” Nimmo said during an on-the-field interview, as shared by Robert Sanchez of SNY. “This is gonna be playoff baseball and Mets fans, we need you guys to fill this place up. This place needs to be rocking on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. We need your help. We need everybody to get out here, we need this place full. This is playoff baseball, this is what you guys want. Let’s go! Let’s go Mets.”
