Collin “Bulby” York has spent nearly forty years inside Jamaica’s studios, shaping the sound of reggae and pushing it far past the island. His fingerprints are on music from Sean Paul, Rihanna, Madonna, No Doubt, and Beres Hammond. His personal work as a solo artist tells one other story, one the place the previous and current of reggae meet in surprising methods.

5, York’s fifth full-length on Bulby York Music and VPAL Music, spans roots reggae, lovers rock and dub, weaving collectively voices which have outlined eras with these set to hold it ahead.

Following Time & Shade (2023), Heartcrafted (2020), Grasp Blaster (2018) and Epic & Ting (2016), this document confirms York’s place as a connector, maintaining reggae’s roots alive whereas opening new doorways.

Collin “Bulby” York acquired his begin in Kingston, following his uncle to King Tubby’s studio, soldering wires and studying the ropes from a dubmaster legend. For over thirty years, he has formed the genres of reggae and dancehall. He has labored alongside world artists together with Sean Paul, Beenie Man, Rihanna, and Madonna.

Via his albums and collaborations, York bridges generations, crafting rhythms that honour custom whereas pushing Jamaican music into the longer term.
