Cassper Shows Support For Lekau Amid Drip Business Liquidation. In a heartfelt show of solidarity, Cassper Nyovest took to social media to express his unwavering support for Lekau Sehoana, the founder of the popular sneaker brand Drip Footwear, following reports of the company’s liquidation.
Nyovest praised Sehoana for his resilience and entrepreneurial spirit, emphasizing the challenges of running a business in a volatile economic environment. “Lekau is a fighter!!! He built an amazing company and he has an inspiring story. Business is hard; it’s got ups and downs,” Cassper wrote in his post.
Drip Footwear has been a significant player in the South African fashion industry, celebrated for its stylish designs and its commitment to uplifting local communities. However, recent developments have led to financial difficulties for the brand, prompting the liquidation process. This news has resonated deeply within the entrepreneurial community and among fans of the brand, many of whom have expressed their disappointment at the situation.
Despite these setbacks, Cassper remained optimistic about Sehoana’s future stating that he will continue to show support to his friend. “I got your back!!! Keep your head up, g!!! I know you’ll be back with a bang!!!” he stated, as he also reminded followers that resilience is key in business.
Sehoana’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming a successful entrepreneur has resonated with many. Gauteng’s finance and economic development MEC, Lebogang Maile, highlighted the importance of supporting businesses like Drip, especially those that contribute to job creation in historically disadvantaged communities.
Maile’s efforts to seek a rehabilitative intervention for Drip reflect a commitment to helping small businesses navigate their difficulties. “We cannot sit back and watch The Drip Group, a company founded in the township of Ivory Park by a young Black man who had the odds stacked against him, be liquidated. The company provides employment to hundreds of people, many from historically disadvantaged groups including women and youth,” he said.
“As a government, we must do everything possible to provide the necessary support to this and other small businesses that are facing challenges, particularly when such challenges arise from failures of compliance with legislation, which is not the same as blatant and intentional criminality.”
