Chelsea’s midfielder, Conor Gallagher could be on his way back to Stamford Bridge if the deal with Atletico Madrid fails to see the light of day.
There are several reports that Chelsea has requested that Conor Gallagher return to London as a flight is already booked for his return to Stamford Bridge. Transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano also confirmed that news in an exclusive post on his social media accounts on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
He said,
“Chelsea request Conor Gallagher to return to London on Tuesday, set to book flight. Chelsea see all deals as separate, João Félix too, offered to Chelsea on Sunday. Door remains open for Gallagher to join Atléti after medical done, up to all parties involved.”
He also confirmed that the deal is not yet off as both parties will continue negotiations on how to bring Gallagher’s transfer to reality as Chelsea are also looking to bring Joao Felix to the club. However, it must be noted that both deals are seen independent of each other which means that transfer fees are treated differently.
Recall that Gallagher rejected a two-year deal plus an option to extend which was offered to him by Chelsea as he believes he deserves more than what they are offering him in terms of the number of years.
It was also reported that Chelsea told the England international that he would be used as a squad player if he decides to remain at Chelsea without signing a new deal.
