NEW YORK – Former NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey appeared alongside his attorneys Friday to deny the recent sexual misconduct allegations against him at a press conference.
Maddrey’s lawyers claim that his accuser, Lt. Quathisha Epps has been under investigation by the NYPD’s internal affairs department for putting in for overtime she never completed. They allege that she is making the allegations against Maddrey to get away with her scheme.
They also say that Maddrey and his accuser had a consensual, adult relationship, and that they have evidence by way of racy text messages, videos, and more proving that she initiated the sexual relationship.
Maddrey’s attorneys also said that the former chief never approved her overtime or any other officer’s overtime because he had nothing to do with OT.
“These allegations are nothing more than an attempt to skirt criminal liability,” said Lambros Lambrou, Maddrey’s attorney.
Maddrey resigned from the NYPD last week after the allegations came to light.
Epps had filed a complaint against the city, alleging that Maddrey engaged in quid pro quo sexual harassment, forcing her to perform unwanted sexual favors in exchange for overtime.
