Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and cornerback Trevon Diggs went viral earlier this week when they were spotted enjoying themselves at a club not long after the Cowboys fell to 3-7 on the season via a humiliating 34-10 home loss to the Houston Texans on Monday night.

During the latest edition of the “Nightcap” podcast, Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe sent a message to Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones regarding the current state of the franchise.

“That’s why your Cowboys suck — because two of their best players, this is what they’re doing,” Sharpe said, as shared by Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post. “That shows you how much the game of football means to them. That told me everything I need to know.”

With injured starting quarterback Dak Prescott out for the rest of the season and head coach Mike McCarthy in the final campaign of his contract, some wondered both before and after Dallas suffered a fifth-straight defeat on Monday night if at least some members of the Cowboys locker room were essentially done giving their all for McCarthy. The actions of Lamb and Diggs certainly won’t silence such chatter ahead of Dallas’ game at the 7-4 Washington Commanders this Sunday.

“I would’ve left the stadium with a bag over my head,” Sharpe continued. “Ain’t no way you’ll see me leaving the stadium when I got beat like that … It’s disrespectful to the fans who pay their hard-earned money. But you know what, it couldn’t happen to a better franchise. Because all that owner do is run his mouth and talk about what they’re gonna do … And all their players do, because they take it from the owner, is run their mouth — and they ain’t won dog crap. None of them.”

Specifically, Diggs and pass-rusher Micah Parsons received some criticism when they insisted earlier this week that the Cowboys are “a really good football team” despite their record. As a franchise, Dallas hasn’t played in an NFC Championship game since the club won Super Bowl XXX in January 1996.

“They got no leaders,” Sharpe added about the Cowboys. “That is the problem that the Cowboys have. They’re devoid of leadership from top to bottom.”

As of Friday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook listed Dallas as a 10.5-point underdog for Sunday’s game at Washington’s Northwest Stadium. It could be interesting to see how Cowboys players handle themselves on Sunday evening if they lose to a division rival ahead of Thanksgiving Day.
