The backstory:
At the address, Hochul is planning on proposing:
- Inflation refund: Hochul said that this will deliver about $3 billion in direct payments to around 8.6 million New York taxpayers statewide in 2025.
- Expansion for child credit: Hochul said that the plan would give 1.6M families an annual tax credit of up to $1,000 per child under age four and up to $500 per child aged four through 16.
- Making childcare more accessible and affordable: Hochul plans to include committing $110 million to building new child care facilities and repairing existing sites.
- Making homeownership more accessible and affordable: Hochul is set to address the housing crisis by ensuring that even more New Yorkers can purchase a home.
- Free breakfast and lunch for more than 2.7 million students: Hochul stated that her plan will help save money, address food insecurity and create more opportunities for students to succeed.
- Fighting crime: Hochul plans on creating the nation’s first-ever Crime Analysis Joint Special Operations Command (CA-JSOC) Headquarters.
- Hudson Valley rail service investment: Hochul said this would increase capacity, reduce delays, improve safety and cut potential travel times.
