Recording artist Indie Allen has released his debut EP on November 15, 2024 with full confidence that this was the most suitable time to do so.
“ I chose now to release an EP because it’s the perfect time. I am living in the moment, with everything I’ve learned on this journey so far I wanted to express my growth in the best way I know how— make music. This is my first project where I’ve evolved to not just being an artist but also a producer, I’ve learned more about the business, and building a legacy is paramount. What better time to bet on myself it’s now or never,” he told World A Reggae in an interview.
Titled Oasis, The 8-track set is a perfect amalgamation of reggae and dancehall that the Montego Bay, St. James native uses to explore various themes.
“My ultimate hopes for the project is to make an impact in the reggae landscape worldwide while giving listeners an escape during these dark times,” Indie Allen reasoned.
Prior to the project’s release, the artiste teased with the debut of second track ‘Hall Of Fame” which he says successfully whet the appetites of music lovers.
“Listeners have been saying it’s literally their favorite song right now and it makes them feel sexy and free. Some women have noted that it’s refreshing to hear a track that celebrates their sexiness without degrading them. Some have said I’ve found another Hit! And some have said it deserves all the recognition I can get,” he added.
The Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts past student further said that he adds value to the music industry with his versatility. He noted that he can “go from a raspy sing jay voice to the silkiest angelic falsetto.” In addition, he is a commendable songwriter.
The artiste, who also functions as a producer is already back in the studio working on new music. In the meantime, he had some tips for emerging acts:
“Learn everything about the business side of music before putting your art out there into the world. And It’s better to bet on yourself than to sit and wait around for others to acknowledge your greatness,” Indie Allen said.
