Roots reggae has all the time carried the burden of time, and Joseph Benaiah’s remastered single Nothing New Below The Solar seems like proof. The Kingston-recorded monitor asks a deceptively easy query: why can we preserve combating the identical battles? Its reply lands with quiet, religious authority.

Lyrically, the track reaches again by centuries of human expertise. Joseph Benaiah attracts from Ecclesiastes and the concept that there’s nothing new beneath the solar, constructing one thing timeless round it.

The message is historic. “This track speaks about life’s journeys,” he explains, “and the right way to overcome adversity by aligning with the Most Excessive God.” 

Recorded at Mixing Lab Studio, the manufacturing breathes with natural heat. Kurt Bennett drives the rhythm on drums, Danny Basie of Firehouse Crew holds down a deep, rolling bassline, and Robby Lynn and Leroy Romans layer keyboards with actual reverence. Benaiah himself performs guitar all through.

Then the horns arrive. Ras Brass, that includes Dean Frazier, Chico Chin, and Nambo Robinson, delivers a brass part that stops you in your tracks. The Daffodils full the image with harmonies that really feel each earned and deeply felt.

This marks Benaiah’s second outing forward of his forthcoming album, following the compelling His Majesty Is Coming. Each singles level towards an artist working with real intention, somebody who treats their music as residing testimony.

Nothing New follows its personal path, grounded in objective and custom.
