Kumar, the (former) lead singer of Raging Fyah, released his new album Tales of Reality today, October 18th. The album is a collaboration with The 18th Parallel, a Switzerland-based roots reggae band known for its authentic golden age reggae sound. This also marks the first collaboration between Easy Star and Fruits Records out of Geneva, Switzerland.
Kumar’s always meaningful lyrics and soulful voice are a great combination with The 18th Parallel’s live roots reggae riddims, delivering a tribute to classic Jamaican roots music with a fresh, modern twist. The album is produced by Fruits Records, mixing and dubbing by members of Zion I Kings—Tippy I and JAH David.
Tales of Reality follows previous collaborations, including Kumar’s work on Jesse Royal’s GRAMMY-nominated album ROYAL and the hit single “Message In The Radio” with The 18th Parallel. This long-standing partnership started in 2015, when Kumar first worked with Fruits Records on I Kong’s song ‘Pass It On’, and continued to grow over the years.
After four years of production, spanning from Kingston to Geneva, Tales of Reality is a must-listen for roots reggae fans and showcases the best of conscious, golden-age-inspired reggae with a modern edge.
