Pep Guardiola saw his Manchester City side suffer another defeat in the Premier League as his team lost 2-0 to the league leaders, Liverpool at Anfield.
The Premier League Champions headed into the game having failed to secure a win in their last six games across all competitions. Goals from Coady Gakpo and Mohamed Salah ensured that Liverpool extended their lead over Manchester City by 11 points who are currently placed in fifth place.
What did Pep Guardiola say about Manchester City defeat against Liverpool?
He said,
“I congratulate Liverpool and we’ll reset and start from zero and it is difficult to believe it. I rely a lot on these Manchester City players, I know they are doing in this position. We’ll see what happens by the end of the season. There is a moment where maybe it’ll click. Kevin [De Bruyne] played good minutes, Jack [Grealish] played well, Jeremy [Doku] played good minutes after a month out. Bernardo and Rico [Lewis] have a lot of minutes in their legs. Nathan [Ake] was exceptional against one of the great wingers. I congratulate Liverpool, they deserve the victory, we accept the situation and we’ll build from that.”
This is the first time in the history of Pep Guardiola’s managerial career that he will see his side go without a win in seven consecutive across all competitions. Manchester City will face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Wednesday, December 3, 2024.
