Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, has given an update on the injury to his captain, Martin Odegaard, ahead of the Premier League clash against Manchester City.
Mikel Arteta was speaking in an interview where he was asked about the fitness of his players who are currently on the injury list. According to him, Martin Odegaard’s injury will see him out for a while, but there is good news concerning Ricardo Calafiori and Bukayo Saka.
“We will lose Martin Ødegaard for a while. The scans showed he has some damage, especially on one of the ligaments in the ankle. Calafiori and Saka are fine and available.”
What happened to Martin Odegaard?
Martin Odegaard’s injury is a major concern for Arsenal fans right now. The Norwegian midfielder picked up an ankle injury during Norway’s UEFA Nations League match against Austria, and it’s unclear how long he’ll be out for.
Recall that Norway’s team doctor, Ola Sand, confirmed Odegaard suffered a small ankle sprain, but the extent of the damage isn’t fully known yet due to swelling.Odegaard’s absence would be a significant blow to Arsenal’s creative options, as he’s been instrumental in the team’s success since joining in January 2021 from Real Madrid.
There are some reports that Martin Odegaard could be out for up to four weeks, but nothing has been confirmed by the club yet.
