The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport has officially launched the 2025 Mashramani Calendar of Events, promising an extensive celebration of Guyana’s cultural diversity and talent.
At a press conference on Tuesday, November 26, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Charles S. Ramson announced plans for a grand showcase featuring the annual Costume and Float Parade, performances by local artists, and various community-centred events.
The festivities, themed “Expressing Culture and Creativity as One Guyana,” will include expanded monarch competitions to engage Guyanese across the regions. The Calypso Monarch Competition will be held in Region One for the first time. The Dancehall Monarch competition will return to the Kitty Seawall, the Chutney Monarch will take place in Corriverton, and the Soca Monarch will return to Linden.
Pop-up concerts featuring performances by competition contestants are also planned for Regions Two, Three, and Five.
Director of National Events Andrew Tyndall revealed that private events will complement the official activities in the 2025 calendar.
Registration for competitions will open on Monday 2 December 2024, through the Ministry’s Facebook page. The submission deadline is 31 December 2024.
