Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, has responded to critics who accused him of insulting those who helped him succeed in the music industry.
Portable, who recently welcomed a baby girl with actress Ashabi Simple, vehemently denied insulting Olamide and Skepta, who provided him with platforms to shine.
In an episode of the Echo Room podcast, Portable acknowledged past misunderstandings with Olamide but emphasized the rapper’s continued support. He said, “Baddo na person, I have offended him several times, but he still helps me!” Also, he questioned whether he had ever insulted Olamide or Skepta, highlighting their consistent support despite his mistakes.
Additionally, Portable spoke about the prevalence of fake love in the music industry. He claimed that top artists Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido refused to support his career due to fear of being outshined. He stated, “You see this industry, there is fake love, if its sure for them. If Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, give me their platforms, I will blow than this, but they don’t want to help because you fit blow than them.”
Meanwhile, Portable’s comments have sparked intense debate about the music industry’s dynamics and the nature of support among artistes. Also, his claims of fake love and fear of being outshined have resonated with some, while others have criticized his approach and perceived lack of gratitude.
