Belgium’s forward player, Romelu Lukaku has finally completed his move from Chelsea Football Club to join Serie A side, Napoli on a permanent deal.
Both clubs confirmed the news on their separate official websites on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Napoli signed Romelu Lukaku for £25 million plus £12 million in add-ons on a three-year deal which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027, with Antonio Conte keen on seeing the move to come reality.
Lukaku won Serie A under Conte’s stewardship at Inter Milan in 2021 and his form saw the Blues splash out £97.5m to bring the striker back to Stamford Bridge later that year.
The deal sees Romelu Lukaku’s second spell with Chelsea come to an end with the first ending when he was sold to Everton for a club-record £28m in the summer of 2014, having scored 13 goals in his 52 appearances for the Blues during his time at the club.

Lukaku’s time at Chelsea was cut short during his second time at Stamford shortly after his return to West London in 2021 when he told Sky Italia that he was “not happy” with the situation at the club. He also expressed his regret at leaving Inter in the same interview, prompting his loan to the club the following season.
Lukaku’s deal means Victor Osimhen will be surplus to requirement at Napoli as he could be playing second fiddle to the Belgian.
