VP Records and Ranch Entertainment are excited to announce the music video release for Junior Cat’s “Rude Bwoy Sumthin,” which premiered on September 27. Directed by KD Visuals, the video takes viewers to downtown Kingston, where the narrative of a tense chase unfolds. The visuals reflect old-school gangster movies, blending gritty street realism with a modern flair.
“Rude Bwoy Sumthin” by Junior Cat, known as“The Wild Indian,” is the latest music video to be released from the “Badman” riddim project. The song pays homage to the original outlaw persona in dancehall culture, with lyrics that delve into themes of street credibility and toughness. Junior Cat’s distinctive style brings vivid storytelling and raw energy to the series. Reflecting on the riddim, Junior Cat shared:
“I remember seeing Michael Prophetperform ‘Gunman’ live on the original riddim back in ’82 on Chisholm Avenue, with Nicodemuspresent,” said Junior Cat.
“Recording on this riddim brings a good vibe because I was trained on these types of riddims from early on. I love rub-a-dub dancehall, drum and bass riddims, and this one has always been a top riddim from back in the day, a hit among hit riddims.”
“Rude Bwoy Sumthin” is a part of the “Badman” riddim series alongside “Selector Pull It” by Olaf Blackwood featuring Shaggy and “Sitt’n Fi Chat” by Spice. All three songs, produced by Shaggy and Shane Hoosong, breathe new life into Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes’ classic “Gunman” riddim, offering a modern take while preserving its iconic sound.
