
MOSCOW (AP) — A Russian courtroom convicted and sentenced an American on fees of illegally transporting weapons, courtroom officers mentioned Monday.
The U.S. citizen, recognized as Charles Wayne Zimmerman, was handed a 5-year sentence by the courtroom in Russia’s Black Sea resort of Sochi after a rifle was discovered on his yacht in June. Russian customs officers discovered the weapon whereas inspecting it upon arrival in Sochi.
The regional courts’ press service mentioned in an announcement that Zimmerman instructed the courtroom that he traveled to Russia to satisfy a girl he had beforehand contacted on-line.
