A bitter online dispute between Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti and political activist Aisha Yesufu has escalated, with both parties exchanging scathing insults in separate videos circulating on social media.
The controversy began when Seun Kuti advised Aisha Yesufu to liberate herself from her hijab before advocating for Nigerian women’s liberation. Aisha responded with a blistering attack, vowing to physically harm Seun and dismissing his music career.
Meanwhile, in a retaliatory video, Seun Kuti recounted a past encounter with Aisha on a TV show. He claimed he endured her body odor for two hours. Also, he alleged that Aisha belittled his success compared to American music mogul Jay Z.
Seun stated, “I said the private sector should be held responsible for Nigeria’s economic state. She replied that I’m not a capitalist like Jay Z because I haven’t achieved success.” Additionally, he mocked Aisha’s loyalty to former Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, asking when she would be accountable to Obidients.
Lastly, the feud has sparked intense debate on social media, with many calling for civility and respect in public discourse.
“… Kate Henshaw was there. Na near me she (Aisha Yesufu) siddon. First of all, she was just smelling…”
