DMac Burns presents the new single Silent Prayer. Musically it could be defined as roots reggae with indie details, while the lyrics express an inner prayer that wishes to turn the nightmare we are living into a new dream.
The artist, who was born in New York and has been based in Ireland since 2022, explains: “I wrote this song before moving from the US. My wife was pregnant and I was thinking a lot about the world and what it would hold for our child: the perpetual war, the profit over everything corporate cult that runs the planet, the complete disregard for human life, the obsession with screens and social media… I know there are a million amazing things about the world too, but the anticipation of bringing new life into this world made me focus on the things that need changing. So I wrote this song to externalize those thoughts about a collective change.”
The song was recorded between New York, Cork, Buenos Aires and São Paulo and mixed by Victor Rice. Silent Prayer features most of the musicians from their recent EP Pulse, released in June 2024. In addition to Danny McDonald (DMac Burns) on vocals and guitar, his right-hand man, the Argentine Matías Saldivia, plays keyboards, while drums and bass are handled by his close friends from New York Rocky Russo and Seth Nicholson, who also added backing vocals as well, and musician and producer Glik (El Natty Combo) is in charge of percussion. Finally, three of Victor Rice’s favorite Brazilian horns, Paulo de Viveiro, Marcelo Freitas and Javier Gomes, play trumpet, sax and trombone respectively.
Silent Prayer is available on digital platforms.
