Dallas Cowboys fans are seemingly growing more and more tired of the apparent nonchalance of the team’s front office toward re-signing quarterback Dak Prescott and receiver CeeDee Lamb.
Executive VP and CEO Stephen Jones tried to reassure his fan base that the team is working diligently to get new deals done for both stars as well as edge-rusher Micah Parsons.
“We plan on doing it [re-signing all three of them],” Jones told “The Doomsday Podcast” on Thursday. “We want all three players here. We have the best chance of winning a championship by having those players on our roster.”
Of the three, Prescott has the highest probability of not being retained. Team owner Jerry Jones has made it clear he’s content letting Prescott play out the final season of his contract in 2024 and rolling the dice next offseason with trying to re-sign him, and Stephen’s comments seem to support his father’s stance.
“We look at it like Dak’s our partner in this,” Stephen said. “We’re trying to win a championship. No one wants to win a championship more than Dak Prescott; I can assure you that. But we don’t look at it like we’re trying to, you know, pay him not to go somewhere else.”
