Reggae music continues to resonate with soulful voices and heartfelt messages, and one artist making waves is Birdz I. Born Stephanie Mattis in Kingston, Jamaica, Birdz I brings authenticity and roots inspiration to her music, carrying forward the legacy of reggae with a modern twist.

Her journey into music began early, singing in church choirs and penning her first song, “Guide Me,” at just nine years old. Influenced by reggae greats like Queen Ifrica, Tanya Stephens, Etana, and Diana King, Birdz I’s sound is a fusion of soulful melodies and powerful lyrics that connect deeply with listeners.

In 2018, she released her debut single, Spiritual Mansion (Give Thanks), under Bugle’s Anointed Entertainment Label, marking her official entrance into the reggae scene. She also featured on track #8 of the celebrated Havana Meets Kingston album, alongside Aza Lineage, produced by Mista Savona. Her commitment to roots reggae and storytelling has solidified her presence in the genre.

Birdz I’s personal life has been marked by challenges that have shaped her artistry. In 2013, as she told Jamaicans.com, she survived a kidnapping attempt in Kingston, an experience that brought clarity to her purpose as a singer and storyteller. These moments of resilience are evident in her music, which often delivers messages of strength, gratitude, and hope.

This year started well for Birdz I, as she released her latest single, Strive With Me by Visixn Beatz, a track that embodies her signature roots reggae style while delivering a message of unity, perseverance, and faith. With this new release, Birdz I continues to inspire her fans worldwide, affirming her place as one of reggae’s promising conscious female voices. We cannot wait to see this new powerful voice on stages worldwide.
