Tessa Hadley joins Deborah Treisman to learn “Gold Watch,” by John McGahern, which was printed in The New Yorker in 1980. Hadley has printed 13 books of fiction, together with the story collections “Unhealthy Goals” and “After the Funeral,” and the novella “The Get together.” She received a Windham-Campbell Prize for fiction in 2016.
