Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez is 34 years old and in his 13th season behind the plate for K.C., but just keeps mashing. His grand slam and six total RBI on Monday night helped the Royals complete a double-header sweep against the Cleveland Guardians and move within one game of the Guardians in the American League Central. Salvy’s sixth-inning slam made him just the ninth catcher ever to hit at least 25 home runs in at least four seasons. Perez and the Royals have turned some heads this season, surpassing their FanGraphs preseason wins projection of 73 on Monday and giving themselves a real shot at a division title along the way.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Since earning the full-time catching role in 2013, Perez has racked up 257 HR and 846 RBI, leading the entire AL in RBI once. Can you name every AL and NL RBI champion since 2000?
Good luck!
