The MLB playoff push is officially underway, and reinforcements are en route for the Houston Astros, with future Hall-of-Famer Justin Verlander returning to the mound tonight against the Boston Red Sox. After stumbling out of the gate, the Astros are in their customary place atop the American League West despite losing multiple expected starting pitchers to Tommy John surgery and Verlander missing time with shoulder inflammation and neck soreness. At 41 years old, Verlander’s prime is certainly behind him, but his decade of postseason experience could prove invaluable for Houston in October.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Verlander is one of the greatest pitchers of his generation, with a career ERA of 3.25 while racking up 3,393 strikeouts, 260 wins, an MVP and three Cy Young Awards in 19 seasons. With that being said, can you name every pitcher in MLB history to win multiple Cy Young Awards?
Good luck!
