NEW YORK – The FDNY says a brush fire that broke out in Manhattan and rose to three alarms on Tuesday afternoon is now under control.

The flames burned through around 10 to 15 acres of land. The FDNY says that dense, hilly terrain and a lack of hydrants made the fire harder to fight.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
So far, no injuries have been reported.
A crew is remaining on the scene to make sure the fire does not rekindle.
On Monday, a drought warning was issued in New York City. Officials say that if the drought persists, they may elevate the warning to an emergency.
The last drought warning in New York City was issued in January 2002.
