The Detroit Tigers went with a bullpen game against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night and were able to get a 1-0 win to keep their slim American League playoff hopes alive.
They were also just one out away from pitching a no-hitter.
The quartet of Beau Brieske, Brant Hurter, Brenan Hanifee and Tyler Holton not only shut out the high-powered Orioles lineup, they held them without a hit for 8.2 innings.
But with two outs in the ninth inning and the Tigers just one out away from a combined no-hitter, Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson ripped the first pitch he saw from Holton down the right-field line for a two-out triple.
