Earps was declared the winner, making her the first football goalkeeper to bag the award. Cricketer Stuart Broad was runner-up, with heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson coming in in third place.

The winner will take home the iconic trophy, which is a silver four-turret lens camera. It was first created in the 1950s for the inaugural winner of the event, Christopher Chataway.
