Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has taken to social media to address men in the wake of the tragic death of Idowu Christianah, a student of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
Christianah was abducted and murdered by Adeleye Ayomide, an undergraduate from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), who had a history of similar violent behavior.
Meanwhile, Adekunle Gold‘s message, posted on his X account, emphasizes the need for men to redefine masculinity by holding each other accountable for actions that perpetuate gender-based violence. He wrote, “Men, true strength is not about staying silent but about standing up to your friends who abuse, rape, or demean women. Let’s redefine masculinity by holding each other accountable. JusticeforChristianah”.
Additionally, Adekunle Gold‘s call to action comes as a response to the horrific circumstances surrounding Christianah’s death. So, e death has sparked widespread outrage and demands for justice. Also, by encouraging men to speak out against gender-based violence, Adekunle Gold hopes to inspire a shift in cultural attitudes and promote a safer, more equitable society for all.
