AKA’s Mother Emits The Pain Of Losing A Child. Lynn Forbes, the mother of the late AKA, has shared her deep and ongoing pain following the tragic loss of her son. AKA was murdered last year in February along with his friend Tibz in Durban.
Lynn Forbes took to Instagram to share a heartfelt throwback photo of herself with her two sons, Kiernan and Steffan Forbes. In her post, she reflected on the profound pain of losing a child and the emotional rollercoaster of raising her two boys
“When you have children your identity changes from being a woman to being a mother. From that moment onwards, you make a choice every day, whether to prioritise someone else’s happiness and well-being above your own. As a mother, you choose to do your best with what you have and with what you know, at any given moment.
“You choose to do the right thing, even when you’re not always entirely sure what the right thing to do is … and you have to forgive yourself over and over again, for doing everything so wrong and being so flawed. In the end, you find peace, knowing that, as a mother, you have and will always do what you believe is your best,” she wrote.
Lynn expressed the profound struggle of coping with her son’s death, sharing that the pain is something she carries with her every day. Despite the loss, she emphasized that her unconditional love for him will remain in her heart forever.
“Losing a child in any way, is a mother’s biggest pain. It changes one’s identity because what made you a mom, is no longer complete, it’s broken. You experience an identity death. You no longer know who you are. The only thing that defines me as a mother, is my overwhelming and unconditional love for both my children, the love I will forever hold in my heart,” added Lynn Forbes
