April Bernard joins Kevin Younger to learn “A Worldly Nation,” by John Ashbery, and her personal poem “Beagle or One thing.” Bernard is the writer of two novels and 6 poetry collections—together with “Blackbird Bye Bye,” which gained the Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets, and “The World Behind the World,” which was printed in 2023. She’s a professor of English and inventive writing at Skidmore School, in Saratoga Springs, New York.
