The European soccer transfer window closed at 6 p.m. ET on Friday and Arsenal was one team closely watched right up until the end.

The Gunners were busy all day, confirming three player exits and two newcomers — including a high-profile loan from cross-town rivals Chelsea.

Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea

Insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed on X that winger Raheem Sterling is heading to North London to join Arsenal on a season-long loan from Stamford Bridge.

Sterling previously played for manager Mikel Arteta when he was an assistant at Manchester City from 2016-19 and offers a familiar, talented face to perhaps provide depth on the right side behind top winger Bukayo Saka.

The 29-year-old started 22 of 31 Premier League matches played for Chelsea last season, tallying eight goals and four assists. The move to the Emirates was sparked after Sterling was reportedly told he had no future under manager Enzo Maresca.

Reiss Nelson loaned out to Fulham, Eddie Nketiah sold to Palace

Around the same time as the Sterling news, Arsenal reportedly agreed to a season-long loan deal which sent young forward Reiss Nelson to West London rivals Fulham.

Originally it appeared as if the 24-year-old was going to newly promoted Ipswich Town until negotiations apparently fell apart at the last minute, according to Romano.

Nelson is best known by fans for his heroics two seasons ago against Bournemouth, scoring the game-winning goal at the very last second to cap off a three-goal comeback.
