Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty’s remarkable start to the 2024 season has put him within striking distance of all-time great Barry Sanders’ single-season rushing record.

Through six games, Jeanty has 1,248 yards — 92 more than Sanders had in his first six games of the 1988 season when he finished the regular season with 2,628 yards.

But to pass Sanders, Jeanty must have a monster finish to the season.

Sanders posted absurd numbers over his final five games, rushing for 1,472 yards on 189 carries (7.8 yards per attempt) to set the FBS record.

Jeanty needs to average 230 rushing yards per game to match Sanders by the end of the regular season, and with Boise State’s upcoming schedule, he might.

Here’s a look at how Boise State’s final six opponents have fared against the run so far in 2024, plus Jeanty’s history against each.

Note: Numbers listed for each team are their FBS rank in run defense, rushing yards allowed per game and Jeanty’s career stats against them.
