Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen have initiated an inquiry into a viral video showing Victor Boniface using his phone while driving. This incident surfaced just weeks after the Nigerian international was involved in a major car accident that left him injured.

The footage depicts the Super Eagles striker handling a mobile phone as he drove through German streets, raising concerns among Leverkusen officials.

According to Bild, the club intends to have a serious conversation with Boniface to emphasize the importance of responsible behaviour. Reports also allege that the 23-year-old was speeding on a highway while using his phone.

In a statement shared via Foot Mundo, the club stated: “We are reviewing the situation thoroughly. If the incident is verified, we will discuss it with Victor immediately. He is not only a role model but also has a responsibility to avoid putting himself or others in danger on the road.”

Additionally, it has been reported that Leverkusen is working to extend Boniface’s contract until 2029. The new deal will reportedly include a significant salary increase to better align with his stellar on-field performances.
