Nothing has gone right for the Dolphins in 2024. So, it shouldn’t be surprising that wide receiver Tyreek Hill received a troubling injury update on Saturday.

Per ESPN Dolphins reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques, head coach Mike McDaniel said that Hill (wrist) would only play on “Monday Night Football” against the Rams “if his body lets him.”

“[Hill]’s wrist injury was ‘heating up,’ and they wanted to ‘let it cool down,'” wrote Louis-Jacques.

Hill, whose 3,955 receiving yards since being traded to the Dolphins in 2022 are the most in the league, appeared on Miami’s injury report after not participating in Friday’s practice.

The Dolphins are fortunate that they play on Monday, giving Hill an extra day to heal. If he’s inactive, it would add to Miami’s disappointing season.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in Week 2 and missed four games.

Miami (2-6) ranks 31st in scoring (15.5 points per game) after ranking second in 2023 (29.2 points per game). While the offense has fared better since Tagovailoa returned in Week 8 against the Cardinals, the Dolphins lost both games by a combined four points, 58-54.

The Dolphins entered the season as one of 10 teams with an over-under win total of 10 games or more. They ranked 12th in preseason Super Bowl odds (+2500).

Instead of contending for a championship, Miami is 4.5 games behind the Bills (7-2) for first in the AFC East and ranks 12th overall in the conference.

Its season could get even worse if Hill can’t play against the Rams (4-4).

As disappointing as that would be for the Dolphins, based on how their season has gone so far, they should be used to it.
