Big East Conference school Creighton has gotten on the board with its 2025 class in a big way.

On Friday, 2025 four-star wing and top-30 national prospect Hudson Greer from Austin, Texas, verbally committed to the Bluejays. According to On3 national reporter Joe Tipton, the 6-foot-6, 190-pound Greer is the highest-ranked player ever to pledge to Creighton.

Throughout his recruitment, per recruiting services, Greer landed nearly 20 scholarship offers from other suitors, including Kansas, Arizona, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, BYU, Iowa, LSU, Southern California, Texas and UCLA. His only official visit was to Creighton.

Head coach Greg McDermott, who recently led the Bluejays to the Sweet 16 in the 2024 NCAA Tournament and an Elite Eight appearance in the 2023 Big Dance, and his assistants prioritized Greer in the 2025 cycle for a long time, and that proved key in ultimately prevailing for him, according to recruiting analysts.

According to MaxPreps, as a junior in the 2023-24 campaign for Lake Travis High School in Austin, Greer averaged 22.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. He connected on 54 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the arc.

Greer will play for the powerhouse Montverde Academy in Florida for his upcoming senior season. Last season, the Eagles went undefeated and captured the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic (“EYBL Scholastic”) and Chipotle Nationals titles.

Looking ahead to 2024-25, high school basketball experts forecast that Montverde will be a preseason top-10 national team and, once again, contend for the EYBL Scholastic and Chipotle Nationals crowns.

Greer’s highest 2025 national ranking comes via ESPN, at No. 27. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking place him in the top 40 nationally and as a top-10 shooting guard/small forward in this class.

On3 national analyst/scout Jamie Shaw had this to say in part about Greer in an evaluation:

“He is a bursty athlete with good straight-line bounce. He can get on the rim in the half-court and throw it down in traffic. Greer is a smooth three-point shooter with deep range. He has a quick release and shoots with outstanding balance. Greer will need to continue tightening the handle, but he can play off one and two dribbles to get to his spots in the mid-range.”

While Greer is a strong first pick-up for the Bluejays, Creighton coaches continue to pursue various other highly ranked prospects in the 2025 cycle, such as four-star center Eric Reibe, four-star point guard JJ Mandaquit and four-star point guard Semetri Carr, among others.
