Cristiano Ronaldo in his latest interview session has opened up on what Man United’s head coach Erik Ten Hag should do to be successful at the club.

In a recent interview, Cristiano Ronaldo has addressed key things Erik ten Hag, the manager of Man United, would require to do to become successful at the club. After a well-publicized falling out with Ten Hag, Ronaldo left Manchester United in late 2022. He stated that he thought the manager’s actions and attitude were bad for the team and its players.

Ronaldo did not mince words in the interview with Rio Ferdinand, accusing Ten Hag of disrespecting Manchester United in general. Ronaldo said, “You cannot say that,” in reference to Ten Hag’s remarks made in public regarding United’s present lack of potential to contend for the Premier League championship.

In addition to his criticism, Ronaldo gave Ten Hag a piece of advice, recommending Dutch icon and former United striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy as a coach Ten Hag should “listen to” to save his job.

Ronaldo emphasized that Van Nistelrooy’s understanding of the club’s culture and his accomplishments as a player, both of which could be helpful to Ten Hag if he aims to better comprehend the demands of managing Manchester United. The two men shared a dressing room during van Nistelrooy’s early years at United.

Ronaldo had said: “As I told you, Manchester, they need to rebuild everything, in my opinion. The coach, they say they cannot compete to win the League and Champions League. (As) Manchester United coach, you cannot say that you’re not going to fight to win the League or Champions League. If Ten Hag listens to Ruud, maybe he can (help himself). I think it can help a lot because he knows the club and the club should listen (to) the guys who were there. You [Rio] or Roy Keane or Paul Scholes or Gary Neville, whatever, Sir Alex Ferguson. You cannot, you cannot rebuild a club without knowledge.”

He added, “Not guys who work in office. They understand. The people who understand the football, it was, 99 per cent is the people who were there in the dressing room. They know how to deal with the players. It’s the people who understand these things. So I believe that Ruud is going to help because he was inside the club. He knows the club. He knows the fans. If the coach listens to him, I think they can improve a little bit the club.”
