Dak Prescott has never shied away from the elephant in the room: He and the Dallas Cowboys need to get over the hump and start winning playoff games and, ideally, a Super Bowl.

But on Thursday, fans found out once again that even amid a tough stretch with his own contract situation, along with star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb holding out for a new deal, Prescott would be happy to discuss where things stood.

And this answer isn’t going to spark an hour-long debate over where Prescott will sign in free agency. Just the opposite, actually.

While speaking to the media on Thursday, Prescott stated there are “good conversations” going on and said he has confidence in both sides regarding “getting things done,” as Patrik Walker of the team’s official website revealed.

“Good conversations are going on. Lots of good things are going on there. I’ve got a lot of confidence in my guys and these guys in getting things done,” Prescott said.

Although very little has been said about Prescott’s contract situation of late, largely due to Lamb’s holdout, the Cowboys must prioritize it to guarantee they have their franchise signal-caller beyond 2024. Prescott is entering the final year of his deal and could opt to test free agency if he doesn’t have a new deal in place.

Considering the quarterback carousel the Cowboys went through after Troy Aikman and before Tony Romo, it’s fair to assume fans would prefer to avoid having a question mark under center heading into the 2025 offseason.
