DJ Speedsta Launches Online Skateboards Store “Brothers”

As a kid, DJ Speedsta‘s heart was set on skateboarding. He envisioned himself as a pro skater, gliding through the streets and nailing tricks. While his path didn’t lead him to the professional skateboarding world, his passion never waned. In 2017, after a decade away from the board, he rediscovered his love for skating and decided to impact South Africa’s skate scene.

In 2019, Speedsta took a significant step by founding “The Skatehub.” This initiative aimed to nurture the skateboarding community, and in 2020, he further cemented his commitment by opening the first Black-owned skatepark in South Africa—a landmark moment for the local skating culture.

The journey wasn’t without its hurdles. In 2020, Speedsta and his partner, @hypemanspice, embarked on an ambitious project to create their own skate brand. Their vision came to fruition in 2022 with the arrival of their skateboards. However, they faced a major setback when they were robbed of 230 skateboards by their supplier. Despite this adversity, Speedsta and his team remained undeterred, demonstrating immense grit and perseverance.

Today, in 2024, Speedsta is thrilled to announce the official launch of Brother Skateboards. The brand represents more than just skateboards; it’s a symbol of enduring passion and resilience. With their online store now live, Brother Skateboards is poised to make a global impact, merging Speedsta’s musical energy with his lifelong love for skating.

As Speedsta writes, “Welcome to Brother Skateboards. Our online store is officially Live!” His journey from a young skater with big dreams to a trailblazer in the skateboarding community is a testament to the power of following one’s passion, no matter the obstacles.
