The head coach of Chelsea Football Club, Enzo Maresca has continued to downplay the chances of his team winning the Premier League this season.
Chelsea have been tipped by most football pundits as one of the favourites to lift the Premier League when the 2024/25 season comes to an end. However, Enzo Maresca believes that his team is not yet at the level to compete with some of the top teams.
The Italian was speaking with the BBC after the victory against Brentford on Sunday, December 15, 2024. According to him, the possibility of winning the league does not depend on the number of games won but how ready that they are.to challenge with tip teams.
“It’s not about how many games we win. It’s about being realistic. There are things we have to do better. That is why I said for me we are not ready for a title challenge.”
Chelsea are currently in second place behind Arne Slot’s Liverpool with just two points. The Blues travel to the Merseyside next to face Everton while Liverpool face Tottenham Hotspur.
